    • Audience ideas: The audience realized that cloud computing is a major feature of the school library becoming a learning commons. The use of programs such as Droople and fish4Info.org, various apps and gizmos is the key to extending the presence of the library into virtual spaces. Access to devices such as netbooks and iPhones seems to be critical and allowking kids the opportunity to experiment was noted. Resistence on the part of IT personnel was noted.

Audience synthesis: Audience members kept notes of the mains ideas of David Loertscher's presentation and recommendation that the school library website should be turned into a giant conversation rather than the one-way stream of information that most are at the moment. Audience members recognized that web 2.0 tools would be the key to involving many rather than a few in the virtual learning commons. Virtual book clus would have some advantages including allowing students to post at any time; and OPAC systems might allow for student reviews online. They noted the invitation of DL to participate in the year-long construction of the virtual Learning Commons at http://schoollearningcommons.pbworks.com
